Product Overview & Application

The Defro Firewood Plus 12 kW is a hand-fed natural draft boiler for split logs, designed for hot water heating systems with a buffer tank. It is suitable for heating systems that use solid biomass in the form of natural split logs and where the system is professionally integrated into a closed heating system.

Technology & Equipment

The boiler body is constructed as a water-carrying steel structure with multiple flue gas passes. Heat transfer occurs via convection channels with turbulators, while combustion is supported by primary air and laterally supplied secondary air. The equipment includes, among other things, an electronic draft regulator, an analog boiler thermometer, a cast iron grate, a safety heat exchanger, and thermal insulation made of asbestos-free mineral wool.

The separate arrangement of the loading door, ignition door, and ash chamber door facilitates operation, refueling, and cleaning. The pull-out cast iron grate, the ash chamber, and access to the heat exchanger chamber support regular maintenance during operation. The analog thermometer allows direct monitoring of the boiler temperature at the unit.

System Integration & Compatibility

The Firewood Plus 12 kW is intended for operation in closed hot water heating systems and must be combined with a heating buffer tank. For safe and permanent system operation, a professionally installed return temperature boost, suitable safety devices, and an appropriately sized chimney are required.

Installation

The boiler must be installed by qualified specialist personnel in accordance with applicable regulations and manufacturer specifications. For operation, a suitable installation room, adequate combustion air supply, a professionally sized chimney, a return temperature boost of at least 65 °C, and the required safety devices must be provided.

Notes

The boiler is intended for natural split logs. The fuel must be dry and comply with the fuel parameters specified in the manufacturer's documentation. Before commissioning, maintenance, and operation, the operating instructions, installation specifications, and requirements for heating water, chimney, and safety devices must be observed.
