The GEMA MDC PLUS 400 Bundle Module + Heating Rod TEHP9 9.0 kW 400 V combines an MDC PLUS 400 heating module with a matching 9.0 kW electric heating rod for central heating systems. The bundle is used for additional electric heating of heating water and is suitable for heating circuits in which supplementary heating, frost protection support, or an additional heat source is to be professionally integrated.
The MDC module forms the hydraulic base body for the heating circuit, while the TEHP9 heating rod provides the electric heat output. This creates a compact unit for existing heating systems with solid fuel boilers, water-carrying fireplace systems, gas or oil boilers, heat pumps, or comparable main heat sources.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC PLUS 400 module is designed as an electric heating module for central heating systems. It features a steel tank with 50 mm polyurethane foam thermal insulation, a heating circuit connection with female thread G 1 1/4" and a connection for the electric heating cartridge with female thread G 1 1/2".
The GEMA electric heating rod TEHP9 corresponds to the 9.0 kW version of the WPI series. It operates at 400 V, has a G 1 1/2" screw-in thread, an installation length of 720 mm, an unheated zone of approx. 120 mm from the sealing surface, temperature control, safety temperature limiter, and an IP54 protective cap made of ABS V-0.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle enables electric supplementary heat directly in the heating circuit without the need to add a separate heat generator with fuel storage. Especially during temporarily increased heat demand, as frost protection support, or for utilizing available surplus electricity, the combination can be a sensible addition to the heating system.
The 9.0 kW version provides high electric supplementary output and remains technically easy to understand thanks to the separate combination of hydraulic module and screw-in heating rod. The temperature control on the heating rod supports controlled heat input within the intended operating limits.
System Integration & Compatibility
The heating module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. For proper operation, the minimum flow rate must be maintained; at 9.0 kW, this is 514 l/h or 8.57 l/min.
An additional circulation pump is required and must be connected in parallel to the heating cartridge. The system must also be protected with a suitable safety valve. The hydraulic integration, electrical protection, and connection must be professionally planned and executed on the system side.

Installation
The MDC PLUS 400 heating module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit. The pipe routing must allow complete filling and reliable venting. Before switching on electrically, the module and system must be completely filled with water and vented.
The TEHP9 heating rod must be installed horizontally in a suitable G 1 1/2" socket. Electrical connection, fusing, cable sizing and commissioning may only be carried out by qualified specialists.
Notes
The bundle may only be operated with a secured minimum flow rate. Operation without water, with insufficient venting, or without appropriate safety devices can cause damage to the heating element and the system.
The 9.0 kW output does not replace proper system planning, heat load calculation, or electrical sizing. The safety valve, additional circulation pump, electrical protection, and control connection must be designed appropriately on the system side.
